ITINERARY

DAY 1 - Porto

Welcome to Portugal! Our Guide will pick you up at the airport. Make your-self comfortable in the car while driving to the Hotel. If you have sometime one the first day, roam free in the city. We might suggest a riverside walk, fresh fish dinner or a visit to Port wine cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. The opportunities are endless and Porto is gorgeous.

DAY 2 - Discover Porto

Porto is a fantastic city full of life and culture. Take time to visit the Bolhão Market, just a few hundred meters from your hotel. Walk along the Pedestrian avenue of Santa Catarina for shopping. Or take a leap into medieval time visiting the UNESCO world site of the Ribeira by the river. Do not forgot to cross the Don Luis bridge both level as the sights changes from one another. If you still have time enjoy a glass of Porto Wine in one of the many Cel-lars, and reserve yourself for the hundred of steps up to the Cleri-go’s Tower, views are just….

DAY 3 - Train to Pinhão

Today save the morning for discovering the city of Porto. The old town, its granitic houses, monuments and narrow streets are ideal for a stroll. After you go Pinhão by train into a journey leading to the vineyards, from the Douro mouth on the Atlantic to the narrow valley slopes of the Wine region of the Douro. Here the slopes are monumental and the wine culture is pre-sent in every moment. The day ends at Pinhão where you rest in an old wine farm which awaits you with a welcome drink. Porto wine off course!

DAY 4 - Enjoy Douro Valley

Of you want to hike some information is available in the booklet. You can pay a visit to several wineries around Pinhão end enjoy the scenery by the river.

DAY 5 - Cruise Peso da Regua to Porto

River Cruise (May to October) After a small transfer to Regua, you spend the day cruising the river back to Porto passing by some stunning locks 14 and 35m of descent at the dams. Appetizer and lunch (inc.) served on board while observing the views. Then once at Vila nova the Gaia pear, enter a wine cellar just across the street.

On this departure day a transfer will take you to the airport or other departure place you have in mind.

WHAT TO EXPECT

This is a sigthseeing tour more than an Hiking one. Non the less information to hike in Porto and in the Douro will be inside the booklet. The tour will guive you a compreensive insight about the city of Porto and the area of Pinhão in the High Douro Region. It offer also two ways to see the Douro river, one by train along his shores from Porto to Pinhão village. The other while coming back to the city by boat while passing the locks on the River, all the way back to Porto from the High Douro. This way you will explore on your own to UNESCO sites.
